Abstract
An automatic titrating and recording apparatus for microbiological assays has been developed to facilitate the handling of the vast numbers of titrations that must be performed in running routine assays. This instrument can automatically titrate and record results on 225 samples consecutively with a high degree of precision (less than 1% standard error) and an accuracy of better than 97%. The precision and accuracy of the instrument are much better than the limits of error normally experienced in the microbiological procedures themselves. By suitable modification, the principles involved can be adapted to assays of vitamins and amino acids, acid base titrations, oxidation and reduction titrations; and similar procedures. © 1955, American Chemical Society.
