Abstract
The chemical basis for the possible use of a new type of seroflocculation reaction, either for the detection of a disease like cancer or as a general health clearance test, is discussed. In this paper a program of study of the seroflocculating activity of certain steroids is outlined with these alternatives as the goal, and a first report of screening results is given. Accompanying papers III and IV of this series deal with the chemistry and synthesis of compounds reported here. © 1957, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
